Bridget Thomas Completes "Home Essentials" REALTOR Course

Bridget Thomas ongoing coursework helps her see what a house is really saying, for buyers touring ho

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ONALASKA, Wis. — Sept 30, 2026 —  Bridget Thomas, a REALTOR® with Raven Realtors licensed in Wisconsin and Minnesota, has completed the Home Essentials course through the Wisconsin REALTORS® Association (WRA). The course trains agents to read a property's features inside and out, so they can point out what matters during a buyer's showing and give sellers honest, useful feedback before a home goes on the market.

Each episode walks agents through how to "read" a house. That means spotting the small clues that show how old a home is, how it's been cared for, and what may need a closer look. Topics included:

  • Age of home and mechanicals: how to find the manufacture dates on furnaces, water heaters, and other systems
  • Roofs, windows, and foundations: what typical wear looks like, and which foundation cracks are worth a second opinion
  • Older-home red flags: knob-and-tube wiring, buried or abandoned oil tanks, and materials that may contain asbestos
  • Below grade: telling a radon mitigation system apart from a sump pump (they can look alike to an untrained eye), and recognizing a bathroom rough-in in the basement
  • Outside the house: septic system basics, and signs of insect activity or damage

"In the La Crosse and Onalaska area we have everything from 1890s farmhouses to brand-new builds, and every one of them has a story," said Thomas. "This course gave me better tools to notice things during a showing, like a mechanical that's near the end of its life or a crack that probably deserves a professional's opinion, so my clients can ask the right questions early. It doesn't replace a home inspector. It helps me make sure buyers and sellers walk in with their eyes open."

For sellers, that knowledge turns into practical pre-listing feedback: what a buyer's inspector is likely to flag, and what's worth addressing (or disclosing) up front. For buyers, it means a more informed tour and better questions going into inspection.

Home Essentials adds to Thomas' growing list of professional education. She holds the GRI, ABR, GREEN, RSPS, PSA, C2EX, AHWD, HFR, and SFR designations, and she is Luxury Home Certified. Before real estate she worked in healthcare strategy and predictive analytics, and she brings that same data-minded habit of continuous learning to her work with clients.

"Buying or selling a home is one of the biggest decisions most people make," Thomas added. "The more I understand about how a house is built and how it ages, the better I can help people move forward with confidence."
